I just had a random bit of inspiration for a series last night. However...
Problem the first: Should I draw it, or dare I attempt to animate it?
Both have their own problems...
drawing: I take a long time to draw anything that looks halfway decent. This would lead to sporadic updates no more often than once a week.
animating: see drawing. Also, animating is *hard* and I'm fairly bad at it.
Problem the second: I'm not sure when to set it
My idea was about a small (3-5 at max, just for my sanity) group of these Shaolin monks that are pwnage. One possibility, inspired by an old Jet Li movie I saw with my dad at about 1am the other day, is that they're trying to keep the "foreign devils" from taking over the Chinese way of life. Problem with that, of course, is that it could alienate... well... anyone who's not asian, and that's a large portion of my friends and half of my family :/ Other idea was that they got somehow transported to the future, and are trying to get home. Problem with that is that there isn't much fighting, and then... why have them be Shaolin monks in the first place?
Anyway, part of the reason I wanted to do this was to improve my art skillz. Forcing yourself to draw something on a semi-regular basis is the best way to improve (for example, go to any long-running webcomic -- eg: megatokyo, tsunami channel -- and look at their first comic vs. their last. Big difference).

I think so far my plan is to try just drawing it normally and see how it goes. As for the theme, it seems like nobody would be offended by the first idea, so I'll probably stick with that one
